Library Program Goals and Objectives

At Mockingbird Elementary Library, we are committed to promoting student success. We believe that there are many opportunities for us to accomplish this and have focused our goals and objectives on this outcome.

Promoting student success through the library program:
We are committed to creating authentic learning experiences for our students where they can create new knowledge and learn how to become lifelong learners. Our program will encourage collaboration between the librarian and teachers where students will benefit from collaborative planned and taught lessons, inquiry based learning, and a technology rich education.

Promoting student success through our librarian, Suzanne Harper:
As our school librarian, my personal goals include:
  • Promoting an enjoyment of reading to students.
  • Become a leader in curriculum development and reading instruction in order to promote student achievement.
  • Increase student success by becoming an instructional partner with teachers, parents, and administrators.
  • Be knowledgeable about new technology applications and share this information with staff and students.
  • Empower students to be critical thinkers, problem solvers, and inquiry driven learners.

Promoting student success through our collection:
In order for our students to be successful, they must have equal access to physical and virtual library space and resources. The collection needs to contain resources that are current, diversified to meet the needs of all students on the campus, support curriculum standards, and accessible to all stakeholders.
